Mauritius is a 2040 km² big (or small, it all depends on the beholder) island. The inhabitants talk Creole, but everybody speaks french too, because it is very similar to Creole. As the island once belonged to the United Kingdom, street signs are still in English and you can also communicate in that language.

The small piece of land is located in the Indian Ocean, in the east of Madagascar. The island is known for its multifacetedness. Many beaches… some with blustering waves, some barely without waves, some invite you to the perfect fun in the water.
Some parts of Mauritius are rocky, others are wooded, others stark and with a simple view over the never-ending vastness of the water, at some places the water is so clear that you can still see the ground after a few meters, in some parts the lagoons shine in different blue tones.. in some areas you should not swim, in others you miss something if you do not go in the water.

Apart from its nature, Mauritius is famous for the blue Mauritius, the famous stamp.

There are more than 4 religions living together in Mauritius, ca. 630 habitants per km² and nevertheless peace dominates. Above all, they do not listen to chart music but to séga, a type of music that is unknown to Europeans in most cases.

However, the mauritian people keep up very well with fashion, techniques and music, like some Europeans they are up to date.

Mauritius is very multifaceted, so you could not collect all impressions in one novel.
Mauritius is a place, which you should visit once in your life time to make your own opinion.

This place was made to travel and to spend your holidays.

Why spending holidays in Mauritius?

Mauritius is known as a paradise, 365 days a year you can expect good weather. Terrific beaches, turquoise lagoons, open-minded people, who give you the feeling of being welcomed and who are happy to get to know more about other cultures. Mauritius is a different world, which you can almost overlook due to its size, when you have a look at the world map. But Mauritius is definitely worth a journey and everybody should go ahead with planning a trip once.

Places we recommend during your Mauritius holiday

North… is known as a touristic place to go, especially the place Grand Baie. Many beaches, from small to big, terrific bays and many shopping possibilities can make the tourist happy. There are also a few restaurants, bars, clubs in the north which provide a nice entertainment at night.

South… is known for its small towns or villages. People come here to enjoy the silence and to relax. The nature is untouched and offers many places, where to enjoy your privacy. Your vacation won’t have to do anything with stress, full buses or overcrowded beaches and restaurants.

East… long, white beaches and clear bays with a little breeze, this makes your vacation a lot more like paradise. In Summer, it is quite empty and quiet.

West on one hand you find touristic spots which can be compared to the north and on the other hand quiet villages like in the south. The nature is marked with its mountains, natural preserves and different bays and beaches. All surfers like to come here. Also non-surfer tourists will get their money’s worth here.

Different types of accommodations which you find in Mauritius and where to spend one’s holidays

There is a large range of accommodations, which invite you to spend your holidays there. There are great hotels, like in every other destination, but Mauritius has much more to offer.

For people who do not like to spend too much time in their accommodation but want to do many tours and participate in excursions, we recommend studios, bungalows or apartments. For bigger groups or a family of 4-6 people we recommend apart hotels. There you can shape your days just like you want. They already provide a little luxury and you can add more, if you want to. Apart hotels are affordable and also popular for couples, as some of our business partners offer discounts especially for couples.
